Ingredients:
- Mung beans – 1 cup of dry mung beans- which yields 2-2.5 cups when soaked for 8-10 hours. (Recommend rinsing them before soaking)
- Cilantro, finely chopped-1 teaspoon
Spices:
- Cumin seeds-1 teaspoon
- Turmericpowder-½ teaspoon
- Black pepper-1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon for desired spicy hot taste
- Salt to taste
Liquids:
- Avocado oil/Cooking oil-2 teaspoons
- Water-¼ cup
Cooking Instructions:
- Heat the oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them crackle.
- Add the mung beans, turmeric powder, black pepper, water, and salt. Mix well.
- Let it cook for 4-5 minutes to achieve a palatable level of softness of the beans. We do not recommend overcooking.
Garnish with cilantro as you serve it hot.
