Ingredients:
- Tomato, finely chopped-1 cup
- Onion, finely chopped-½ cup
- Fenugreek seeds-½ teaspoon
- Urad dal-½ teaspoon
Spices:
- Tamarind paste-1 teaspoon
- Red chili , chopped-2 teaspoons (add more for extra spiciness)
- Mustard seeds -½ teaspoon
- Turmeric powder -1 teaspoon
- Asafoetida -1 pinch
- Cumin seed-½ teaspoon
- Salt-½ teaspoon
Liquids:
- Avocado Oil / Coconut oil -2 tablespoons
Instructions:
- Roast mustard seeds, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, red chilies, urad dal in 1 tbsp of cooking oil in a pan for 3-5 minutes on a medium flame, and when crispy dry, take it off the flame, cool it off.
- Grind the above-roasted spices into a fine powder and keep it aside.
- Now sauté the onions and tomatoes with 1 tablespoon of oil until they soften. Now add asafetida, turmeric powder, tamarind paste, above dry ground powder and salt to taste and cook for 1 more minute.
- Grind the mixture to a smooth paste in a blender without adding any water.
- Serve it with Dosa, Idli or Uttapam.
