Sanjivani Masala Puffed Rice is made with puffed rice which is relatively rich in fiber, protein, and complex carbohydrates. It is a very light, low-fat, low-cholesterol snack. It can be made as mild to moderately spiced with addition of red chili powder. It is a very popular snack in India and basis for bhelpuri, a light detoxifying main dish.

Ingredient:

  • Puffed Rice/Kurmura/Mamra -4 cups

Spices:

  • Asafetida -¼ teaspoon (optional)
  • Turmeric powder-1 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste

Liquids:

  • Cooking oil-2 tablespoons

Cooking Instructions:

  1. Heat the oil in a pan on a medium flame.
  2. Add turmeric powder and salt to taste. If you wish add asafetida as well.
  3. Quickly add puffed rice and mix everything well with the help of a ladle on a medium flame.
  4. Now choose one of the following options:
    • Continue stirring on a low flame until the puffed rice becomes crispy. It may take 5-10 minutes.
    • Or put the puffed rice mixture in a tray in the oven at 150 degrees F for about 45-50 minutes until crispy.
  1. Allow them to cool for 5 minutes and store them in an airtight container.
  2. It is ready to be eaten when desired.
