Sanjivani Masala Puffed Rice is made with puffed rice which is relatively rich in fiber, protein, and complex carbohydrates. It is a very light, low-fat, low-cholesterol snack. It can be made as mild to moderately spiced with addition of red chili powder. It is a very popular snack in India and basis for bhelpuri, a light detoxifying main dish.
Ingredient:
- Puffed Rice/Kurmura/Mamra -4 cups
Spices:
- Asafetida -¼ teaspoon (optional)
- Turmeric powder-1 teaspoon
- Salt to taste
Liquids:
- Cooking oil-2 tablespoons
Cooking Instructions:
- Heat the oil in a pan on a medium flame.
- Add turmeric powder and salt to taste. If you wish add asafetida as well.
- Quickly add puffed rice and mix everything well with the help of a ladle on a medium flame.
- Now choose one of the following options:

- Continue stirring on a low flame until the puffed rice becomes crispy. It may take 5-10 minutes.
- Or put the puffed rice mixture in a tray in the oven at 150 degrees F for about 45-50 minutes until crispy.
- Allow them to cool for 5 minutes and store them in an airtight container.
- It is ready to be eaten when desired.
